India China | Indian Navy Aircraft Deal Details; Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC-2) It will be built for Rs 40 thousand crores, if this is built we will be able to match China.

In the 1971 war, INS Vikrant had destroyed enemy positions in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Khulna in Bangladesh with its Seahawk fighter planes.

The Navy has proposed to the Defense Ministry to build the country’s second indigenous Aircraft Carrier-2 like INS-Vikrant. According to Defense Ministry sources, this aircraft will be manufactured by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) of Kerala, which manufactures INS-Vikrant.

It will cost more than Rs 40 thousand crore to build a 45 thousand ton aircraft carrier. The proposal will first be finalized by the Defense Procurement Board, Defense Acquisition Council and finally the Security Cabinet Committee headed by the Prime Minister.

Big things related to the demand for making IAC-2

  • Due to budget, smaller warships had to be chosen: The Indian Navy wanted a more powerful and nuclear operated 65 thousand ton ship, which would be capable of carrying more than 30 aircraft. But the low budget forced the choice of the smaller and electric propulsion IAC-2.
  • If approved, it will be ready in 8-10 years: After getting the approval of the Security Cabinet Committee and signing the contract, it will take 8-10 years for Cochin Shipyard to build IAC-2. The Navy hopes that by then DRDO’s indigenous twin-engine deck-based fighter (TEDBF) will also be ready for operation.
  • If second aircraft is made then we will be able to match China: China currently has three aircraft carriers, Liaoning, Shandong and Fujian. He is building 2 more aircraft carriers. Therefore, the Navy wants to deploy three aircraft carriers for India’s strong hold in the Indian Ocean.
Vikrant was inducted into the Navy on 2 September 2022.

India currently has two aircraft carrier ships
The Indian Army currently has two aircraft carrier ships. One is Russia’s INS Vikramaditya and the other is INS Vikrant. Both are included among the 10 best aircraft carrier warships in the world.

The country’s first indigenous aircraft carrier, INS Vikrant, was built by CSL. In September last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially handed it over to the Navy.

The 44 thousand tonne INS Vikrant was built at a cost of approximately Rs 20 thousand crores. This warship will be completely ready for war by the beginning of 2024.
