Delhi Police has detained TMC leaders including Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek.
Delhi Police has taken into custody TMC leaders, including Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee, who was sitting on strike at Krishi Bhawan. All these leaders were sitting on a dharna in Krishi Bhawan itself due to not meeting Union Minister of State for Rural Development Niranjan Jyoti. The police forcibly removed all of them from there. The lady police took Mahua Moitra in her lap and detained her. Besides, mobile phones of all the leaders were also confiscated.
Abhishek Banerjee was on strike for the second day on Tuesday. The police dragged him away. They allege that the Central Government is not giving funds to West Bengal. TMC leaders were demanding funds for MNREGA workers and building construction schemes during the protest.
TMC leaders including Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee have been taken into custody.
TMC leader said- We were made to wait for hours
Amidst the uproar, TMC MP Shantanu Sen said- We were called for a meeting. We were made to wait for more than one and a half hour, then we were told that she (the minister) would not meet us. If Union Minister Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti does not meet, then it is fine, we too will not go anywhere from Krishi Bhawan.

- Abhishek Banerjee says that 5 to 10 thousand policemen have been deployed to stop 50 TMC leaders. Looking at the number of security personnel here, it seems as if an India-China war is taking place here. He further said that violence continues in Manipur, a state in the North-East, but the central government is focusing on stopping our protest. He accused the central government of trying to intimidate the protesters.
- TMC leader Abhishek Banerjee said that we have only two ways. First- To surrender before Narendra Modi, Amit Shah and demand their due money. Whereas the other way is to resist. He asked his supporters which path should we choose. Surrender or fight? TMC General Secretary said that we have brought 50 lakh letters written to the Central Government from Bengal. Central government ministers are not only meeting the TMC delegation, but they are meeting BJP leaders like Shubhendu and Sukanta.
TMC says that these letters have been written by more than 50 lakh people, who are demanding release of the outstanding money from the Centre.
Bengal owes Rs 7 thousand crores to the Center
Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee says that the central government owes Rs 7 thousand crores to the state. He said that the government did not even pay the past dues. The housing scheme money for the construction of 55 lakh houses has not been given yet. We are repairing bad roads in 12 thousand villages. I am doing all this with my own money. I get Rs 1 lakh 15 thousand crore from the Center for 100 days of work, roads, housing.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had staged a two-day strike in Kolkata from March 29. Bengal CM was sitting on strike against the central government for not releasing funds for 100 days work scheme and other schemes.
