Meitei-Kuki teenagers unite amid Manipur violence |  Out of 23 players, 16 are from Manipur, 11 from Meitei and 4 from Kuki community.

On one hand, violence is raging in Manipur, while on the other hand, the playground of Kuki-Meitei is winning the trophy together.

In the final, Meitei Bharat Larenjam and Cookie Lewis Jangminlun showed excellent performance and led SAFF to victory.

Not only this, out of 23 boys of the team, 16 are from Manipur. Of these, 11 come from Meitei and 4 from Kuki community. The Indian team defeated Bangladesh 2-0 in the final played in Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan.

Bharat and Lewis appeal for peace

Manipur burning in the fire of violence

Violence has been going on in Manipur since May 3. So far 200 people have been killed in the violence that broke out between the Kuki and Meitei communities. The video of a Meitei youth stripping a Kuki woman had gone viral. There was uproar regarding this from Parliament to the streets. The monsoon session of Parliament was disrupted due to the Manipur violence.
