In the Malegaon blast case, the court recorded the statements of 7 accused including Pragya Singh Thakur, Colonel Prasad Purohit on 60 questions related to the testimony of the victims.

Hearing has started in the special NIA court against seven accused in the Malegaon blast case. When the court asked about the injured and the dead in the blast, the main accused BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur became emotional. Therefore the work stopped for ten minutes.

The court recorded the statements of 7 accused including Pragya Singh Thakur, Colonel Prasad Purohit on 60 questions related to the testimony of the victims. Pragya Thakur answered all these questions in three words “I don’t know”. These statements will be recorded daily in the NIA special sessions court.

Hearing begins against seven accused in Malegaon blast case
The hearing against seven accused in the Malegaon blast case has started on October 3 in the special NIA court. The Bhikkhu Chowk blast case in Malegaon on September 29, 2008 is being heard in the NIA Special Sessions Court in Mumbai. Based on the testimony, the court divided the accused into two groups and recorded their statements under section 313 of CrPC.

The next hearing will be held after taking the statement of the accused.
There are 323 witnesses in this case. 34 of them have flipped. Based on the statements of the remaining 289 witnesses, the court has prepared a set of about 4-5 thousand questions. According to Section 313 of CrPC, the accused get a chance to present their views before the court. Those reactions have already begun. After that the next hearing of the case will take place.

6 people were killed in Malegaon blast
There was a blast on 29 September 2008 in Malegaon, Maharashtra (about 200 km from Mumbai). Here an explosive device was planted in a motorcycle near a mosque. Six people were killed and more than 100 were injured in the incident.

The case was earlier being investigated by the Maharashtra Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), in 2011 the investigation was transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
