On Thursday, an Army officer fired at his colleagues and threw a grenade during shooting practice in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir. 5 soldiers including 3 officers were injured in the incident. News agency PTI gave this information quoting official sources.

According to agency sources, this incident took place at Neeli Post near Thanamandi. The firing was done by a Major rank officer. Although the reason for the attack has not been known, investigation is underway.

At the same time, the Army has denied that such an incident took place in the camp. According to the official statement of the Army, a grenade blast took place at a post in Rajouri sector, in which an officer was injured. He was rushed to the hospital, where his condition is stable. The grenade blast is being investigated.

Army officer created ruckus inside the camp for 8 hours
According to PTI sources, the army officer created a ruckus inside the camp for 8 hours. First he fired at his companions. After this he went and hid in the armory.

When the Commanding Officer along with his Deputy Commanding Officer and Medical Officer tried to convince him to surrender, he threw grenades at them. All three officers were injured in this. Meanwhile, the condition of the Deputy Commanding Officer is critical.

Other army personnel caught him around 11 pm, after which the matter was calmed down. At the same time, on the incident, Jammu’s Defense PRO Lieutenant Colonel Sunil Bartwal said – There has been no terrorist attack here. This is an unfortunate incident inside the camp.

June 2022: On June 27, a soldier opened indiscriminate fire on two of his sleeping comrades in Mirthal Cantonment of Pathankot district of Punjab. Both the soldiers died on the spot. After the incident, there was chaos in the cantonment, taking advantage of which the accused escaped. The Army had caught the accused after a search operation along with the local police.
