An encounter started between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag district of South Kashmir on Wednesday afternoon. There is news of one soldier and one policeman being injured. According to reports, the encounter is taking place in Gadole area of ​​Kokernag.

Army and police were conducting search operations here. During the raid, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, after which an encounter started. The injured have been admitted to the hospital.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, a second terrorist was killed in the encounter that continued for three days in Rajouri district. Additional Director General of Police (Jammu Zone) Mukesh Singh said that the encounter between security forces and terrorists in Rajouri district started on September 11 in Patrada area. On September 12, a Pakistani terrorist was killed. A soldier and an army dog ​​were martyred.

Army continued search despite bad weather
ADG Mukesh Singh said that one more terrorist was killed in the encounter on Wednesday. Despite inclement weather, security forces cordoned off the area 75 km from Rajouri city throughout the night and intensified searches in the surrounding areas in the morning.

26 terrorists killed so far this year
According to the report of news agency PTI, security forces had received information about 3-4 terrorists hiding in the area. After this a search operation was conducted there. During the raid, the terrorists opened fire on the security forces, after which the encounter started.

So far this year, security forces have killed 26 terrorists in Rajouri-Poonch district. 10 security personnel have also been martyred.

Army dog ​​saved handler during encounter
The army officer said that the name of the army dog ​​martyred in the encounter was Kent. He saved his handler during the encounter and was himself martyred. The accident occurred when he was leading a unit of soldiers to search for fleeing terrorists. During this time he came under heavy shelling.

Kashmir Police and Indian Army had arrested 6 terrorists before August 15 during a joint operation. Ammunition and weapons were recovered from them. The first case is of the night of 9th August, where three terrorists were caught in Athlan Gadole of Kokernag. Three people including an army soldier were injured during the encounter.

The second case is of Uri in Baramulla, where security personnel caught 3 Lashkar terrorists. A case was registered against them under UAPA and Arms Act. Baramulla Police and security forces of Army’s 16 Sikh Light Infantry spotted a suspect in Churunda Uri while patrolling.
