Kumarghat Aug 31: With the collaborative efforts of the Central and State governments, road connectivity in the Unakoti district especially in Kumarghat Sub-division is undergoing massive improvement, officials of the Kumarghat PWD revealed on Thursday.
While addressing a press meeting in Kumarghat today, SE of the Department Rati Ranjan Debnath and EE Usharanjan Das along with other officials placed a comprehensive status report of different ongoing road connectivity projects.
“Under Special Assistant, road work for 9.8 km long Fatikroy Bazaar to Kailashahar via Jagannathpur is in progress. The cost has been estimated at Rs 10 crore 72 lakhs. About 15,000 people will be benefited after the completion of this road”, Debnath said.
Also, work on a three-km road from Charki Para near Kumarghat town to hilly Ramgunapara is underway. The cost for this construction has been estimated at Rs 3 crore 50 lakhs. Twenty per cent of the work has been completed.
Besides, under the RIDF scheme, a five km road is being built connecting each village panchayat. The road from Sreepur of Radhanagar village panchayat is under construction and work of one-and-a-half km has been completed. Rs 3 Crore 17 Lakh will be spent for the complete work.
The officials asserted that the government is working with the goal of spending public money for the welfare of the people and the office is working with sincerity.
