1. Last rites of martyrs of Anantnag, Colonel Manpreet’s 7 year old son lit the funeral pyre.

The last rites of Colonel Manpreet of Chandigarh and Major Ashish of Panipat, who were martyred in the terrorist encounter, were performed in their villages. Why is this news important: This is the biggest attack in Kashmir in the last three years, in which so many senior officers have been martyred. Earlier, on March 30, 2020, five officers including a Colonel, Major and Sub-Inspector were martyred in an 18-hour attack in Handwara, Kashmir. Since January this year, 40 terrorists have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir. Of these, only 8 were locals and all the rest were foreigners.

2. Sixth case of Nipah found in Kerala, death rate due to the virus is between 40-70%

The sixth case of Nipah virus has been found in Kerala. Of these, 2 have died, while the remaining 4 people are being treated. The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) says the mortality rate from Nipah is between 40 to 70 percent. This is much higher than the death rate due to corona. The death rate from Corona was only 2 to 3 percent. ICMR also said that the reason why Nipah virus spreads in Kerala is not clear.

Why is this news important: Nipah virus spreads to humans from animals like bats and pigs. Till now there is no treatment or injection available for it. According to WHO, patients infected with Nipah virus show symptoms like viral fever along with headache, feeling like vomiting, difficulty in breathing and dizziness.

3. Congress MLA Maman Khan arrested in Nuh violence, police said- he was in contact with rioters

Congress MLA Maman Khan was produced in the court amid tight police security.

Congress MLA from Firozpur Jhirka Maman Khan was arrested on charges of spreading violence in Nuh, Haryana. He was arrested from Jaipur, Rajasthan. The court has sent the MLA on police remand for two days. Police say that Maman Khan was in contact with the rioters during the Nuh violence. His location was also found near the scene of violence.

Why is this news important: In the Nuh violence on July 31, 7 people were killed and more than 100 people were injured. Haryana Police has so far registered 60 FIRs in the case and arrested 316 people. Monu Manesar was also arrested on September 12 in the same violence case.

This means that compared to 2018, the number of deaths due to drowning in 2021 has increased almost six times.

6. Supreme Court’s question to Manipur government – Why should the FIR registered against journalists not be cancelled?

The Supreme Court has extended the stay on the arrest of 4 members of the Editors Guild of India (EGI) in Manipur by 2 weeks. The court also said that prima facie no crime is made out against journalists. Why should the FIR registered against him not be cancelled? Such sections have been imposed on journalists, which do not apply in this case.

8. Pakistan Airlines flights cancelled, Rs 636 crore needed to start it

9. Red alert of heavy rain in parts of MP, Gujarat and Maharashtra
