Agartala Sept 04: As a part of the week-long campaign taken up by CPI-M central committee, a protest program was held on Monday at Math Chowmani market of the capital city under joint initiative of CPI-M East Agartala Local Committee and Madhya Banamalipur Local Committee.

The agitators called upon the common people to step forward, join the protest and raise their voice against BJP government’s misrule and mis-governance.

Addressing the common masses from the protest spot, the CPI-M leaders said, “Prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing, people are reeling with acute crisis of drinking water, electricity, there is work, thousands of youths are sitting jobless”.

Quoting Tripura chief minister Dr Manik Saha’s statement made in Dhanpur during by-election campaign where he said, “CPI-M works for the welfare of people”, one of the senior CPI-M leaders said, “Now the chief minister who is also a BJP leader he is also accepting and saying that Communists works for the welfare of the people”.

Taking a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi led BJP government, CPIM State Committee member Amal Chakraborty said, “Prior coming to power in 2014, Prime Minister Modi made several promises to the netizens of India. Similarly prior coming to power in Tripura, a bunch of promises was enlisted in BJPs Vision Document. But here too, none of them have been fulfilled”.

“Be it the promise of 2 Crore jobs per year by Narendra Modi, or 50,000 government jobs in 1st year, jobs in every household, jobs through missed calls and many more for Tripura, none have been fulfilled till date”, he added.

Chakraborty further alleged that, “Instead of providing a better livelihood to people, the BJP government has pushed the lives of the citizens towards darkness. Hiked price of essentials, unavailability of basic facilities such as drinking water, electricity, etc. have added to the woes of common people”.

The CPI-M demanded the BJP government to ensure basic services to the common people.

CPIM East Agartala Region Committee secretary Sanjay Das and Madhya Banmalipur Region Committee secretary Lipika Das were also present in the day’s protest program.
