Congress MLA from Bhultha, Punjab, Sukhpal Singh Khaira has been arrested at 6.20 am on Thursday. To arrest him, Jalalabad police reached his residence in Chandigarh Sector 5. Police say that there was an old case of drug smuggling (NDPS Act) against him, taking action on which he is being arrested. Soon he will be presented in Jalalabad court.

According to the information, Sukhpal Khaira was being investigated in an old drug case of 2015. It is being told that now he has been arrested on the basis of the report of the SIT made under the DIG. Two SSPs have also been included in this SIT. While Sukhpal Khaira says that it was a false case, the Supreme Court has also given him relief in this case.

DSP Sharma arrived from Jalalabad to arrest

When the police reached the house, the first thing MLA Khaira did was ask the identity of the senior officer. The reply received was that he was DSP Jalalabad A.R. Sharma and have come to arrest him in the 2015 NDPS Act case. During this entire incident, Khaira was seen repeatedly demanding arrest warrant from the police officers. Khaira alleges that the police did not allow him to drink even a sip of water and snatched the glass from his hand.

Khaira said- There is an appeal to everyone not to worry. Even before, 50 such cases have been filed against him. I will fight comfortably, I have the strength. But look at their actions, they are arresting people from Chandigarh in a false case of old 2015. In which the Supreme Court has quashed the summons and has granted relief. Yet he is being arrested in the same case, from which nothing has been found.

What was the drug case of 2015?

In 2015, Jalalabad police had arrested 9 people including former chairman of Market Committee Dhilwan, Gurdev Singh. 2 kg heroin, 24 gold biscuits, a country-made .315-bore pistol, two Pakistani SIM cards and a Tata Safari car were recovered from their possession. Khaira’s name had come up in this case due to his alleged links with Gurdev Singh, former chairman of Market Committee Dhilwan.

Along with Khaira, names of Private Security Officer (PSO) Joga Singh, Personal Assistant Manish, a person from Bath village (Jalandhar), NRI UK resident Charanjit Kaur and Major Singh Bajwa of Bajwa Kalan village (Jalandhar) are also named in the case. Had come forward.
