During the Patiala rally, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had been asked from the stage to answer the Governor regarding the loan.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann has sent the reply to the letter to Governor BL Purohit. In this, complete details of loan of Rs 50 thousand crores have been given. CM Bhagwant Mann had said in Patiala yesterday that he will write a letter to the Governor and give a complete account of the loan. The CM had asked the Governor to lobby the Center for the dues of RDF. In response to which the Governor had first asked for the account of the loan.

In this letter, CM Bhagwant Mann told that he has taken a loan of not Rs 50 thousand crore but Rs 47 thousand crore. Out of which, interest of about Rs 27 thousand crore has been paid against the loans of the old governments.

Apart from this, power subsidy and government schemes have also been mentioned in it. In this, information about the dues of GST etc. is also given. The CM also told the Governor that the previous governments had taken a loan of Rs 3 lakh crore.

CM Bhagwant Mann wrote that on September 21, the government had sought intervention from the Center in releasing RDF worth Rs 5637 crore. In response to this, on 22 September you had asked for the account of the loan taken by the Punjab Government. The government has taken a loan of Rs 47,107 crore from April 1, 2022 to August 31, 2023. Which includes not only market loans but also NABARD loans. This also includes loans related to projects approved by the Central Government.

Paying interest on loan to your government
While giving the figures of further investment of the loan amount, CM Bhagwant Mann told the Governor that it is clear that Rs 27,016 crore is going only as interest on the loan, which your government has inherited. The government is funding schemes and institutions through loans and its own sources. Which were ignored by the previous governments.
