On September 12, TDP workers protested inside a flight to Visakhapatnam.
Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu was arrested by the CID on September 9 in the Rs 371 crore skill development scam. After Naidu’s arrest, his supporters continued to protest.
One such activist protested inside a flight to Visakhapatnam on 12 September. In a video surfaced on social media, a person named Adari Kishore is standing inside the plane holding a ‘Save Democracy’ banner. Andhra Pradesh Police arrested TDP worker from the airport.
On the morning of 12 September, Chandrababu’s food was sent to jail in a car. He has been allowed to have home-cooked food inside the jail due to health reasons.
Timeline till now after the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu
- 9 September: Former CM Naidu arrested by CID in skill development scam worth Rs 371 crore.
- 10 September: Chandrababu Naidu produced in the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) court in Vijayawada. Then the court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days till 23 September.
- 11 September: TDP workers protest in Chittoor against the arrest and judicial custody of CM Chandrababu Naidu. On the same day, police also tried to detain several party leaders, including TDP MLC Kancherla Srikanth in Chittoor district.
- 12 September: TDP has called for a bandh across the state. Andhra Pradesh Police has imposed Section 144 in the entire state on Tuesday.
TDP workers protest in the state, YSRCP workers burst crackers
Telugu Desam Party had called a bandh in the state to protest against Chandrababu’s arrest. Activists demonstrated at various places. At the same time, workers of the ruling party YSRCP celebrated the arrest of Chandrababu. Firecrackers were burst at many places on Sunday night.
Clashes broke out between TDP workers and police during a protest in West Godavari district on Monday.
What is skill development scam?
- In the year 2016, the then CM Chandrababu Naidu had established Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to provide skill training to unemployed youth.
- The TDP government signed an MoU with group companies Siemens Industry Software India Ltd and Design Tech Systems Pvt Ltd for the Rs 3,300 crore project of APSSDC.
- Under this agreement, Siemens Industry Software India was to set up six excellence centers for skill development at a cost of Rs 3,300 crore.
- The state government was to pay 10 per cent of the total cost of the project, while the remaining amount was to be given to Siemens and Design Tech as assistance.
CID made many revelations in the investigation
CID found in its investigation that the project did not have approval from the state cabinet. Despite this the project was started without tender. Under the MoU, Siemens Company was to invest in the project on its own behalf. However, the company did not invest anything of its own.
In contrast, Rs 371 crore allocated by the state government was distributed among various shell companies – Allied Computers, Skillers India Private Limited, Knowledge Podium, Cadence Partners and ETA Greens. Fake documents were prepared for this.
CID said in a press release that in the year 2018, the Anti Corruption Bureau had received a complaint about this scam. However, those in power then tried to stop the investigation and removed important documents from the state secretariat. Before the current government’s investigation, the GST Intelligence Wing and the IT Department were also investigating the scam.
Company fired project manager after internal investigation
Siemens Global Corporate Office conducted an internal investigation, which found that the project manager had transferred the project money to shell companies in the form of hawala transactions. Siemens Global had fired the accused manager.

Chandrababu was arrested from Nandyal on 9 September
CID had arrested Chandrababu from Nandyal on 9 September. On Sunday (September 10), he was produced in Vijayawada court. The court sent him to judicial custody for 14 days. In the early hours of Monday, Naidu was taken to Rajahmundry Central Jail in Rajamahendravaram, 200 km from Vijayawada.

CBI had registered an FIR in the skill development scam case on December 9, 2021. 25 people were made accused in this. However, Naidu’s name was not in this FIR. In March this year, CID started investigating the skill development scam. CID claims that Chandrababu has been arrested on the basis of what has come to light in the investigation. Pawan Kalyan was protesting against the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu when the police tried to stop him.
Late Saturday night, actor and Janasena chief Pawan Kalyan protested against the arrest of Chandrababu Naidu. He was going to Vijayawada with his supporters to protest against the state government.
