Bhaskar Opinion on New experiment of traffic in Bengaluru. Plan to impose higher tax on cars passing through major roads during peak hours

Preparations are underway to introduce a new formula to reduce the traffic problem in Bengaluru. A separate additional tax will be levied on vehicles passing through major roads during peak hours.

It has been recommended to install barriers at various places. The money will be automatically deducted through fast track. Although this decision has not been implemented yet, the committee which was entrusted with the responsibility in this regard has recommended its implementation.

Although this formula is not new but it is not implemented anywhere in the country. Earlier an attempt was made to implement it in Delhi and Mumbai but it could not be implemented due to political pressure.

There are many houses around us in which only two people live but they have five or six or more than two cars. Unless the government makes a policy in this regard, there will be no solution to the crowd. Not only this, there is no space in their homes to keep so many cars.

One after another the cars are parked on the road or in the streets of the colony. It takes a lot of effort to remove these parked cars blocking the way for commuters.

If this race of cars is not stopped then the condition of cities is going to be very bad. There may be no space left for pedestrians or cyclists. It is possible that road accidents may increase further.

After all, there has to be a cure for this competition. Because without the burden of tax or strict laws, no one will believe. Therefore, once the plan of higher tax during peak hours is implemented in Bengaluru, it will open the way for other cities also.

However, there is no control on politics and leaders in our country. If four of his supporters call, they can spoil the good plan. This is what happened in Mumbai and Delhi. The aim was to reduce the crowd but the brothers foiled the plan. This mentality of politics also needs to be curbed.
