Today is the seventh day of encounter between security forces and terrorists in Anantnag, Kashmir. Army is conducting operation in Kokernag of Anantnag since 13th September.
The encounter between security forces and terrorists continues for the seventh day today in Anantnag, Kashmir. The army fears that 2-3 terrorists are still hiding in Gadul Kokernag. On Monday, security forces had recovered two bodies from the forest.
Sources said that one of them has been identified as Jawan Pradeep. Pradeep was missing since September 13, the first day of the encounter in Anantnag. On this day, Colonel Manpreet Singh, Major Ashish Dhaunchak and DSP Humayun Bhat were martyred.
Encounters took place at three places in Kashmir during the last one week. In this, 5 soldiers have been martyred, while 1 terrorist has been killed in Anantnag, 3 in Baramulla and 2 in Rajouri i.e. a total of 6 terrorists have been killed.
According to media reports, this is the longest operation so far between security forces and terrorists in the Kashmir region. This is the third longest running encounter in Jammu and Kashmir. More than 100 hours have passed since the operation started on September 13.

Terrorists fired on CRPF vehicle in Srinagar
On Monday, during the operation in Anantnag, a terrorist targeted a CRPF vehicle in Srinagar. Srinagar Police said that a terrorist armed with a pistol opened fire on the CRPF bulletproof vehicle.
However, the attack was foiled by security personnel in Khanyar area of Srinagar district. There is no information about anyone being injured in the incident. The terrorist fled from the spot after firing at the CRPF vehicle.
Three suspected terrorists arrested in Kishtwar
On Monday, three suspected terrorists belonging to Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist organization were arrested under the Public Safety Act (PSA) in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. They were identified as Tausif-ul-Nabi, Zahoor-ul-Hassan and Reyaz Ahmed. All three have been sent to jail.
At the same time, in Kishtwar district itself, police and security forces have arrested a person during a joint checking operation. 560 gelatin sticks weighing about 70 kg were found in his car. Kishtwar SSP Khalil Poswal said that he was illegally transporting explosive material used for road construction.

Terrorists are hiding in 20 feet deep caves in the forest.
The encounter site in Anantnag is being continuously monitored with drones and helicopters. On Saturday, September 16, the Army said that terrorists are hiding in caves 12 to 20 feet deep in the dense forests of Kokernag. The terrorists have covered these caves with cement, plastic and wood.

Army used advanced drone Heron Mark-2 for the first time
On September 16, for the first time in any terrorist operation, the Army had launched its most advanced drone Heron Mark-2 for attack in Kokernag. The drone found the terrorist and threw a grenade at him, killing him. Besides, the security forces also destroyed the hideout of terrorists in Kokernag.
Heron continued working even in heavy rain during the encounter. Apart from this, quad copter drone helped in expelling the terrorists. This drone can fire bullets and grenades simultaneously from five sides. It can be operated from a distance of 15 kilometers.
