Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting with Naxal affected states on 6 October. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval was also present.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Friday, October 6 that Naxalism will be completely eliminated in the next two years. Shah said during the meeting of Naxal affected states. The Home Minister also said that in 2022, the least number of violent incidents took place in Naxal affected areas. The number of deaths due to this was also the lowest in the last 4 decades.

Shah also said that Naxalism is an exception to humanity. We will eradicate every form of it. At the same time, officials said that in 2022 there was a reduction of up to 77% in Naxalite violence. It was much higher in 2010.

The Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Jharkhand were present in the review meeting. Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis also reached the meeting. At the same time, ministers from Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh attended the meeting.

Officers said that there has been significant improvement in security in Naxalite areas in the last 5 years. In 2015, the Central Government had made a national level policy and action plan in the matter of Naxalite violence.

Significant reduction in deaths of security forces and common people in Naxalite violence
Officials said that compared to 2010, there was a 90% reduction in deaths of security forces and common people due to Naxalite violence in 2022. According to Home Ministry data, from 2004 to 2014, there were 17,679 Naxalite incidents and 6984 deaths.

At the same time, from 2014 to June 15, 2023, 7649 incidents of Naxalite violence took place and 2020 people lost their lives.
