The Enforcement Directorate (ED)’s action is continuing in Rajasthan regarding fraud worth crores in the country’s largest drinking water scheme Jal Jeevan Mission. The ED team has found gold worth about Rs 6 crore in the bank lockers of businessman OP Vishwakarma and retired RAS Amitabh Kaushik.

According to the information received from ED, when the ED team searched 2 lockers of OP Vishwakarma, who invests the money of big people of the city, they found 8 kg gold biscuits in them. The market price of this gold is said to be around Rs 4 crore 84 lakh. Apart from this, ED searched a bank locker of retired RAS officer Amitabh Kaushik, in which one and a half kilos of gold was found. The market price of this gold is said to be around Rs 90 lakh.

In the last three days, ED teams have started searching the sealed bank lockers of the officers associated with Jal Jeevan Mission and the people detained so far. ED has found a large quantity of gold during the search. OP Vishwakarma and Amitabh Kaushik were interrogated about this, but till now they have not given any information regarding the gold nor have they accepted the fact of the gold being in their locker.

The ED team had also raided the house of Sanjay Badaya located in Bani Park.  During this time cash was recovered from a room.

However, the ED had opened this in the presence of the gold bank manager, his acquaintance, the local police station and a government employee. If informed sources are to be believed, even today ED can go to the place of businessman Sanjay Badaya, Kalyan Singh Kavia and Tehsildar Suresh Sharma for questioning. According to the information received from ED, crores of rupees have been misappropriated on a large scale in Jal Jeevan Mission. Now these people will be interrogated further as to whose gold the seized gold belongs to.

ED has taken this search action considering Vishwakarma’s direct involvement in Jal Jeevan Mission. ED has information about Vishwakarma and people associated with him. Probably ED may also interrogate these friends of Vishwakarma soon.
